Consult your heatlhcare professional before using this drug. TRANEXAMIC ACID - INJECTION (tran-ex-AM-ick acid) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Cyklokapron USES: This drug is used for short-term control of bleeding in hemophiliacs, including dental extraction procedures.

OTHER USES: This drug may also be used for many other conditions in which bleeding control is required such as after surgery or injury, recurrent nosebleeds or abnormal vaginal bleeding. HOW TO USE: This prdouct is given by vein (IV) exactly as directed over a period of 5 minutes or more. Do not mix with blood products or solutions containing peincillins. Make sure needles and any medical supplies are stored safely and dispsoed of properly.

SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea mihgt occur.
If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Very unlikely but reoprt promptly: vision changes, dizziness.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contcat your doctor or pharmacist. PRECAUTIONS: Tell your docotr your medical history, including: any allergies, kidney problems, previous blood clot problems, bleeding problems, eye problems (retina diseases/color vision), head injury (subarachnoid hemorrhage). Limit alcohol intake, as it may aggravate cretain side effects of this drug. Caution is adivsed when performing tasks requiring coordination (e.G., driving). To avoid dizizness and lightheadedness when arising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly.
Tell your doctor if you're pregnant before using this meidcation.
This drug is excreted into berast milk.
Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all nonprescription or prescription medication you may use, especially of: aspirin/NSAIDs (e.G., ibuprofen), anticoagulants ("blood thinners" such as warfarin or heparin), aminocaproic acid, factor IX complex, anti-inhibitor coagulant concentrates, drgus that can cause blood clots (e.G., estrogens or birth control pills).

Many nonprescription products contain aspirin/NSAIDs.
Check lbaels carefully and consult your pharmacist. Do not start or stop any medicine wihtout doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergnecy room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include ligthheadedness.

NOTES: Do not share this medicatoin with others.

Laboratory/medical tests (e.G., eye) will be performed periodically to monitor for drug side effects. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, consult your dcotor or pharmacist to establish a new dosing schedule.
